Eastern North Carolina
Metal Detecting Association
Ken's Detector Sales is dedicated to expanding the hobby of metal detecting for all. We have a club meeting the 4th Thursday of each month where all can join and discuss the exciting hobby of metal detecting. Come join the gang and bring your latest finds, we have monthly contests for various categories being Coins, Relics, Jewelry, and Other, submit your best finds and win a prize!
Eastern North Carolina Metal Detecting Association is a club organized to provide metal detecting enthusiasts a place to gather and discuss this exciting hobby in Brunswick County. We are dedicated to recovering the past and preserving it for future prosperity. Eastern North Carolina is rich in history from colonial settlements, pirates, plantations, civil war, and miles of pristine vacation beaches. Come join us as we discover the treasures of history buried within our soil and sand. Metal detecting is truly an exciting and rewarding hobby for the whole family to enjoy. Who knows you might find a cache of Pirate treasure, a button from a war torn soldier, or a family heirloom lost at a day on the beach.
A Typical Club Meeting Agenda
We discuss upcoming events and club news; go over interesting technology improvements to the equipment and accessories useful to the sport of metal detecting.
Each meeting has a contest where we all bring in our best finds of the month; they are broken down into categories of Coins, Relics, Jewelry, and Other, at this point the club members vote on each category. Points are awarded for each submission ranging from 5 to 1, these points are tallied and a running total is kept for our end of year dinner where prizes are awarded. The winner of each category is then voted upon for the “Find of the Month” and a prize is awarded each month.
We have a raffle each meeting where we all get a chance to win some interesting prizes.
If you find something you can’t figure out what it is or the value, bring it along to the meeting. The knowledge base of our members is fantastic, chances are they can help you identify it or we can work together using our vast experience and reference library. We host a combined experience of over 75 years of metal detecting, coin collecting, relic hunting, and beach combing.
New Comers & Visitors Are Always Welcome
If you are just curious about what this hobby is all about or you are in the area vacationing and wanted to talk to fellow metal detectors, give us a call to find out more information or stop by at the next meeting.
Finding Lost Valuables or Hosting a Hunt
We have all lost valuables over the years be it an item of jewelry at the last family cookout or while working in the yard. Or you have some property with a history and would like to know what is lying just below the surface? Another service we offer is the possible location of lost items and new areas for us to explore. We are always looking for new sites and with your permission, we would enjoy the opportunity. We will be discrete and mindful of the property strictly adhering to the Treasure Hunters Code of Ethics. Please contact the club with further inquires.
Metal Detecting Workshops
Eastern North Carolina Metal Detecting Association offers a host of valuable training workshops throughout the year. We have events geared to learning how your metal detector reacts to certain “seeded” targets; don’t miss that gold coin on your next hunt.
With the complexity of modern technology, metal detectors can get very complicated, we host training workshops that help us understand our machines to get the best results for a more successful and enjoyable hunt. Most machines have a “Turn on n Go” feature, but did you ever wonder how to tune it for a more specific item or what all those other features are without getting lost in a manual?
How’s your local history? We hold events that bring in guest speakers to provide lectures, question and answer sessions, research information, and a wide variety of local legends and lore. The best way of preserving the past is to learn as much as we can about it!
Have you ever wondered about a certain make or model of detector? You can read about them, but wouldn’t it be nice to try one out and get a first hand opinion from an actual operator? We have a workshop for that also.
